Amazing Experiences (Brisbane) from Property Investing

While my life is still immersed in creating books for others so I can later scale the investing, there is still room for those other life goals, like weekend experiences.

Creative property investing is about finding poky old houses and doing them up. That’s truly creative too, even though it may feel like a whole lot of work! But today we’re going to look at what you can do with your surplus money made, things that are pure fun.

Vertigo is Australia’s first vertical restaurant, right here in New Farm, Brisbane. You are strapped in for safety whilst dining out on a gourmet meal, peering across at the skyline view and not even noticing you are four stories above the ground. It overhangs the tall building of the Brisbane Powerhouse. Book the Vertigo for $250 a person, inclusive. Valid until 31 May.

If you’d like to see more of Moreton Bay, then take the ‘See Moreton’ ferry from Murrarie Brisbane to Moreton Island. Cruise in luxury to Moreton Bay Marine Park on the catamaran ‘Spirit of Migaloo II’ — see dolphins, dugongs and sea turtles. You can snorkel or dive the 15 wrecks placed at Tangalooma, good in Spring, or wander the island, which also offers plenty of drinks with tiny umbrellas. Tickets: $199 Adult; $557 Family

Culture Vulture? Then take a trip to Brisbane Showgrounds for the Affordable Art Fair this 9 – 12 May. It’s easy to take a train to Exhibition Station. Browse the range of thousands of original works for sale, priced from $100 to $10,000.

Do you enjoy reading or writing? The Brisbane Writers Festival is coming soon, 30 May – 2 June. Amazing to see all these great writers descend and give talks for a small fee of $25. Michael Connolly, Kate Ceberano (authored a book on music), and Fiona Crawford, author of The Maltida Effect, will all be giving author talks. You can also learn more about writing True Crime or Historical Fiction or Anthologising in short workshops.

Crafting an interesting life is more than working all the hours then researching & fixing old properties. It’s making sure you and your family or furry friends get to see the outdoors, experience some interesting culture, art, hobbies and nature. I’m planning on doing hikes in Tasmania as my bigger holiday goal. What’s yours? What things do you enjoy that can motivate yourself for the hard work of property rejuvenation ahead?
